BACKBREAKER XBOX 360 PREVIEW |
|
| |
Backbreaker
is an upcoming football title from 505 Games.
Though the game aims in on the simulation side,
there will be plenty of hard-hitting action,
where players take control of endless variety of
unique passes and rushes as well as sacks and
tackles. One of its main focus is to offer
intuitive controls for casual sports fans
intimidated by the complexities and learning
curve of other football games. To keep the
action going, Backbreaker’s camera system has
been designed to complement the controls. This
is done through the introduction of visual
techniques such as shake and dynamic
field-of-view changes that give the game its
distinct on-the-field feel, aiding the player by
dynamically framing every precious moment.
The publisher did not indicate features for
offline multiplayer but addresses extensive
online support for both competitive and
cooperative split-screens. One of the more
interesting features that fans will appreciate
is the ability to pick between powerful and
precise plays. Basically, your selection in
offense is narrowed down to Evasive mode and
Aggressive mode. In evasive mode, players are
more agile and can dodge, turn and jump to avoid
threats, though they are more likely to fumble
when tackled. In aggressive mode, players can
stiff arm and fight through linemen, run faster
and fend off big hits and tackles. Whether you
are on offense or defense, the outcomes of your
plays will be based on actual in-game
collisions.
Backbreaker promises to use state-of-the-art
animation and rendering technology for high
definition dazzle. One such example will be the
instant replay system, which allow players to
celebrate each tackle or touchdown, complete
with reactions from crowds 90,000 strong. In
addition, Backbreaker will boast Natural
Motion’s euphoria engine that suppose to deliver
high quality, hard-hitting, true-to-life action
- thereby giving players an unparalleled
experience on the gridiron. With total team
customization, players can create their own
rosters and adjust their team’s colors, logos
and more. Going on the offense from kickoff to
end zone, Backbreaker is attempting to achieve
how football was meant to be played on next-gen
consoles. Players can hit the gridiron with
Backbreaker for Xbox 360 in spring 2010.. |
