50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is the upcoming modern shooter being released by THQ, who took over the publishing rights from Sierra, after Vivendi merged with Activsion a few months ago. This is the follow-up story to the original Bulletproof video game that was made for PS2 in 2005. If you’re expecting similar gameplay as its predecessor, think again! 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is about revenge with big emphasis on killing! It is set in the Middle East where 50 Cent is mad as hell because someone stole his precious diamond-encrusted skull. The game is heavy on filling the screen with common criminals, and by shooting them in succession, you can rack up on combo points. Most of your challenge will come from the multitude of enemies you face and not from their capabilities to shoot back.
The action is extremely frantic in this game. You’ll soon discover that running and gunning is the only way to blast through the next level. Each stage is like a war zone, sharpened by blown up buildings along with burning cars and all sorts of debris on the street. The game allows you to carry four weapons at a time, and they range from mini machine guns to rocket launchers. The most exciting part of the battle is probably going to be the melee combat, which involves stabbing and breaking people’s neck. And you’re not going to be alone in this fight. You and your friend can team up and flush the opposition kamikaze style. Judging from what we have seen so far, it looks like 50 Cent has a reputable shooting game. The graphics and sounds are coming together well. Let’s hope the gameplay stay that way, too!
