Both Def Jam Vendetta and Def Jam: Fight for NY have produced quite an amazing feat with their over-the-top action sequences, vengeance-filled story lines, and outrageous hip hop settings on the outset of the wrestling world. It’s true there are no official WWE characters but who needs them when you have music artists, talking trash to each other and ready to turn those explicative gestures into a UFC survival of the fittest type of brawl. And what an intense wrestling match those were! In the upcoming Def Jam: Icon, Electronic Arts, developer of the Fight Night series, will once again give players the ultimate rumble, settling scores between rival rappers from Ludacris to Big Boi.

The new Def Jam will be integrating more of the environment for greater interaction, as well as utilizing the music to change the pace of the game. It’s quite early too tell what other features Electronic Arts may have in store for us. What is certain, however, is that Def Jam: Icon is being developed for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles. It’s expected to be released March 2007. There has been no announcement made yet regarding the current-generation versions. In the mean time, keep checking for a foreseeable demo on Xbox Live soon.
